5 Alliance Chat Rules to Live By

We have a few new guilds in the alliance (and I know some of our seasoned members could use a refresher from time to time), and at peak playing times Alliance Chat (AC) can get overwhelming at times.

For the sake of your fellow gamers and friends let us all do our best to keep idle and random chatter down to a light roar.

  1. Nothing positive to say; Don't say it
    • Everyone is at different skill levels and experience, help, don't be mean.
  2. If it is not Game related keep it to Guild Chat.
    • I would love to talk Foot Ball  all day in AC, but simply, most people don't care.
  3. Sharing is nice, but we don't need a play-by-play.
    • Gratz on a great drop! We don't need to know, but hey GZ!
  4. Keep Selling, Buying, Price Checking, and begging off of AC.
    • There are a lot of better places to do this ie. LA/KC/Kamadan
  5. Common sense
    • Be polite, treat other people how you want to be treated.
    • Two of the same guild members should keep their conversations in Guild Chat.
    • Whispers have not been nerfed.
    • etc,etc,etc

In all we just want to keep the game enjoyable for everyone here.

I have had a few people question why WTS/WTB are not allowed in AC. This policy was debated in our last GL and Officer meetings and here is the rationalization behind the Alliance's decision.

  • Keep AC spam down;
    • We thought about setting spam restrictions on how often you can sell or buy, however no one volunteered to sit down with a timer and time people who were selling/buying.
    • 10 guild, 2 people per guilds wanting to sell at any give time is a lot of added chatter, plus people responding to the wtb/wts from people with interest along with people who feel they need to comment on how what that person is selling sucks, or is over priced.
  • Fighting;
    • Some ppl feel that other people in the alliance should be selling at discounts, others will want to take advantage of newer players. GL's and Officers do not need to be taking care of people who felt they got a bum deal.
    • Arguments about what a item is worth is bound to be a problem. Again this is not worth the hassle to officers and GL's.
  • Where to go;
    • The vast majority of people do not look at AC when they are wanting to buy or sell. They goto the many in game places to buy and sell where people are looking to do the same. The majority of the time a WTS/WTB in AC is just ignored, people just do not turn to AC for that type of service, there for a WTB/WTS in AC is nothing more than spam.

The rules are pretty good, keeps spamming etc to a minimum.  The only problem is if you put "wts,wtb etc" on AC by accident you get pm spammed not to do it again lol.

These rules seem fair to me.  They keep pretty much everything annoying out of the Alliance Chat.
